Grace Halverson, BA (she/her)
Outpatient Behavioral Health Intern

My goal is to work collaboratively with clients to accomplish their goals for their mental health needs. I want to assist in using evidence-based techniques and provide handouts for more information and practice after the session. As a counselor, I am here to support and guide my clients in a collaborative effort to work towards progress in their mental health journey.

As a counseling intern, I am eager to gain experience with a diverse client base. I have experience working with clients with depression, relationship and attachment issues, academic stressors, and the management of stresses in life. The age group covered for me was young adults in a college setting. Also, I mentored children to learn of their relationships with others, and complete art therapy on an informal basis. I have primarily used CBT and solution-focused techniques with an interest in expanding to more DBT techniques.

I grew up in a rural area with not a lot of access to mental health providers without some form of travel and recognized a need for more professionals to be available. Now, there are more options for telehealth, but progress is needed on the stigma of going to a therapist in my area. This inspired me to study psychology to understand how groups of people think and find a way to help others. I have an interest in the topics of self-esteem, body image, and internet addiction.
