About the Role

The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner provides comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and ongoing treatment for children, adolescents, and adults. Responsibilities include developing individualized treatment plans, monitoring treatment effectiveness and potential side effects, ordering and reviewing appropriate laboratory testing, and educating clients about their care. The PMHNP collaborates closely with therapists, psychologists, primary-care providers, and other professionals to support coordinated, whole-person care. This role requires sound clinical judgment, compassionate communication, timely documentation, and the ability to support individuals with varied and complex needs.

Requirements

  • Master’s or doctoral degree from an accredited Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program

  • Current, unrestricted Minnesota RN and APRN licenses, or eligibility to obtain them

  • Current national certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Across the Lifespan (PMHNP-BC)

  • Current prescriptive authority and DEA registration, or eligibility to obtain them

  • Ability to complete insurance credentialing

  • Experience conducting psychiatric evaluations, developing treatment plans, and providing medication management

  • Strong clinical judgment, documentation, communication, and care-coordination skills

  • Commitment to evidence-based, trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and patient-centered care

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with mental health professionals

  • Current professional liability coverage and required background clearances
