Medication Management

Thoughtful psychiatric medication management for children, teens, and adults. We provide individualized support to help you find the right balance for your mental health care.

Psychiatric medication can be an important part of managing mental health, whether used on its own or in combination with therapy. At Autonomy Counseling, our medication management services are designed to support individuals navigating a range of concerns, including depression, anxiety, ADHD, trauma-related symptoms, and mood disorders. We take a thoughtful, individualized approach that starts with a comprehensive evaluation of your symptoms and history.

From there, we work collaboratively with you to explore potential treatment options. We prioritize open, transparent conversations about the benefits and possible side effects of medication so you can make informed choices that align with your goals and preferences. If you're also engaged in therapy—either with a provider at Autonomy or elsewhere—we’re happy to coordinate care, with your consent, to ensure a cohesive and supportive treatment experience.

Follow-up appointments are scheduled as needed to monitor how you’re responding to the medication and to make any necessary adjustments. Our goal is to create a space where you feel heard, respected, and empowered every step of the way. Whether you're new to psychiatric medications or looking for help managing a current prescription, we’re here to guide you with care and clinical expertise.

FAQs

Q: Do I need to be in therapy to receive medication management?
Not necessarily. While many clients benefit from combining therapy and medication, it’s not a requirement. If you’re in therapy elsewhere, we’re happy to collaborate with your therapist—with your consent.

Q: What conditions do you prescribe for?
Our prescriber treats a range of concerns including anxiety, depression, ADHD, mood disorders, and trauma-related symptoms. We’ll assess your needs during the intake to determine if medication is appropriate.

Q: Can you prescribe controlled substances (like stimulants for ADHD)?
In some cases, yes—but this depends on a thorough evaluation and clinical judgment. We may also require supporting documentation or past records to inform this decision.

Q: How often will I need to come in?
After your initial intake, follow-up appointments are typically every 4–8 weeks, depending on your response to medication and treatment needs.

Q: Will medication be the only focus of our appointments?
Appointments focus primarily on symptom management and medication response, but we also emphasize overall well-being. If needed, we can refer you to therapy or additional services.

Q: Is this service covered by insurance?
Most major insurance plans cover medication management, but coverage varies. We recommend checking with your provider to understand your benefits and any out-of-pocket costs.

Q: Can I reach out between appointments if something feels off?
Yes! We encourage clients to contact us with concerns or side effects. We’ll guide you on next steps or schedule an earlier follow-up if needed.
